Flight attendant reveals why the best seat on the plane is four rows from the back

BEST seat to reserve on an airplane: Flight attendant reveals why you should choose an aisle seat with four or five rows in the back, because you’re more likely to have the row for yourself and your meal choice

  • Sandra explains that on a standard flight with 52 rows and six columns, the best seats are 49C, D, F and G because they are away from the washroom and in the aisle.
  • It’s best to have a seat towards the back of the plane, as the plane fills up from the front first, which means you’re more likely to argue.

A flight attendant has revealed the best seats for taking an economy class flight and these aren’t the ones in the aisle of emergency exits with more legroom.

Sandra Jeenie Kwon, who works in cabin crew for Emirates and is based in Dubai, has amassed over 7 million followers sharing flight tips and tricks.

And in a video, she revealed the trick to getting the best seat in economy flight – which is an aisle seat halfway down the rear section of the plane.

In the clip posted to Instagram and TikTok, Sandra explains that on a standard flight with 52 rows and six columns, the best seats are 49C, D, F and G because they are away from the washroom and in the aisle.

She added that it’s best to sit in the back of the plane, as the plane fills up from the front first, which means you’re more likely to argue.

However, she said not to go in the last five rows as they are close to the toilet and “will smell like shit”.

In a step-by-step elimination process, she explains: “The first is obvious, the middle seats suck. So let’s get rid of the middle seats.

“The back rows of each section don’t tilt, so let’s get rid of those.

“I’m not a tall person, so I don’t need these emergency seats. There’s also no place to put your belongings and they have those flimsy tables and TV screens.

“Due to the weight distribution of the plane, they always fill the front end first, so for that reason you’re more likely to argue in the back. And for the bizarre, I prefer the back.

“The seats by the toilet stink like crap, so let’s have a five-row tampon.

“Then it’s a personal preference, I hate asking someone else to move out so I can use the bathroom, so I eliminate the window.”

“And because meals are served front to back, you’re more likely to get your choice of meals up front.”

“So through the elimination process my ideal choice of set is the 49 C / D / F / G seat.”

Jeenie’s comments come as a travel expert revealed a simple hack to take the entire row on a plane on a two-person trip – and booking row 13, using the superstitions surrounding the number, is one of the tips.

Explaining her hack in a TikTok video that went viral, with more than 260,000 views, Chelsea says the other essential ploy is to reserve a window and an aisle seat, leaving the middle seat free.

The theory is that passengers are less likely to reserve a seat between two strangers.

She adds that the odds increase further by reserving row 13, as people tend to avoid her for superstitious reasons.
